Uvetilmicosin 30
Composition:
Each 1 ml contain :
Tilmicosin (as phosphate) ….. 300 mg
Properties:
Tilmicosin is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic bactericidal macrolide antibiotic, has activity primarily against gram positive bacteria and some gram negative bacteria.
Indications:
UVETILMICOSIN 30% is indicated for the treatment of bovine and ovine respiratory disease (BRD) (ORD), associated with pasteurella spp., and mannheimia heamatolitica in cattle and sheep.
It is also effective against ovine mastitis associated with staphylococcus aureus and mycoplasma agalactiae.
Dosage and administration:
(By subcutaneous injection only)
- Cattle and Sheep: 10-20 mg/kg b.wt ( 1-2 ml/30 kg)
- Don't inject more than 10 ml per injection site.
- Swelling at subcutaneous site may be observed but it is transient and mild.
Contraindication:
- Tilmicosin has been shown to be fatal in horses and goats.
- Safe for use in pregnant animals , animals to be used for breeding purpose has not be demonstrated.
- do not use in automatically power syringes.
Adverse effect/warning:
- Swelling of injection site.
- If administered IM, a local tissue reaction may occur resulting in trim loss.
- Avoid contact with eyes.
Overdosage/Acute Toxicity:
-The cardiovascular system is apparently the target of toxicity in animals. In cattle, dose up to 50 mg/kg did not cause death, but SQ dose of 150 mg/kg did cause fatalities.
-Self injection may cause cardiovascular system toxicity in human; operators should exercise extreme caution to avoid self injection and wear suitable protective clothing.
Withdrawal period:
For Meat: Cattle and Sheep: 28 days.
For Milk: Sheep: 15 days.
