Flumequine is one of the early quinolones which is characterized by its high bactericidal activity and quick diffusion into body fluids.
Flimequine has predominate activity against gram negative bacteria such as klebsiella spp., salmonella spp., Neisseria meningitides,pasteurellamultocida, vibrio spp and shigella spp.,
It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acid in the bacteria withoutplasmidic resistance.
Indications:
Prevention and treatment of digestive and respiratory infections due to gram -negative and gram - positive germs, Particularly coli- bacillosis, Salmonellosis, Pasteurellosis, Haemophilus gallinarum (Coryza), and Staphylococcus infections.
Dosage and administration:
Large animals:12 mg Flumequine /1 kg B.W for 3 - 5 days
Poultry: Treatment : 100 ml/200 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days.
Prevention : 50 ml / 200 liters of drinking water for 7-14 days.
Withdrawal period:
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption for a period of at least 2 days after last treatment.
