Each 1 gm contains :

Doxycycline (as hydrochloride) 100 mg

Colistin (as sulfate) 0.5 M.I.U

Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic action against many gram positive and gram negative organisms such as: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Haemophilus influenza, E.coli, clostridium tetani,listeria,salmonella spp., as well as mycoplasma,Chlamydia and rickettsia.

Doxycycline belong to tetracycline group and has advantage over the older tetracycline of longer serum half-life due to the slow excretion and the enhanced oral absoription.

Colistin is a polypeptide antibiotic which is the least toxic of the five antibiotics known as Polymyxins .

they are narrow spectrum antibiotics and bactericidal in action against Gram – negative organisms

Colistin is poorly absorbed from the GI tract after oral administration, thus offering specific advantage in the treatment and control of GIT infections .

For prevention and treatment of infections caused by gram - positive and gram - negative bacteria (i.e Salmonella, E. Coli, ...etc). It is also recommended to control bacterial enteritis and to fight effect of stress due to vaccination and environmental factors.
