Gentamicin is a broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic belong to the aminoglycoside group. It is active against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as staphylococci, proteus spp. E.coli, salmonella,klebsiella and pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Indications:
Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic from the aminoglycoside range, active against a wide range of organisms. It is used for the treatment of infections of the respiratory, the urogenital and the gastrointestinal tract.
Diseases caused by salmonella and coliform organisms should be treated when there is resistance against other antibiotics.
Dosage and administration:
Poultry : 50 gm / 200 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days.
Large animals : 33 mg / kg body weight for 3-5 days.
Withdrawal period:
Discard milk during the treatment and 3 days after the last treatment.
Animals must not be slaughtered before 7 days from the last treatment.
