Colistin Sulphate 80
Each 1 gm contains :
Colistin (as sulfate) 0.80 M.I.U
Colistin is a polypeptide antibiotic which is the least toxic of the five antibiotics known as Polymyxins .
they are narrow spectrum antibiotics and bactericidal in action against Gram – negative organisms
Colistin is poorly absorbed from the GI tract after oral administration, thus offering specific advantage in the treatment and control of GIT infections .
Colistin shows a strong and rapid bactericidal activity against gram-negative bacteria, especially Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Haemophilus.
Colistin is poorly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract after oral
administration, thus offering specific advantage in the treatment and control of gastro-intestinal infections, mainly colibacillosis and salmonellosis.
Treatment : Poultry : 100 gm/200 liters of drinking water as the only water supply for 4-5 days.
Calves and Lambs : 1 gm / 3 kg of body weight for 4 - 5 days.
Via feed : 1 kg / ton of feed for 5-6 days, or 0.5 kg/ ton of feed continuously.
Prevention : Half of the treatment doses.
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption for a period of at least 4 days after the last treatment.
